Weekend Getaway

Went Kukup for a weekend getaway with Dear and friends. It was also as a celebration for a friend’s birthday. We took an 1 hour plus ride to get there. Once we reached there, we had lunch. Basically all meals there are seafood dishes and are all quite delicious.

After lunch, we proceeded to buy some fireworks for the night. Then, we walked about 10min to reach our place of accommodation. In Kukup, most of the family there earn a living by either fishing, selling Otak or renting out their houses to tourist who wants to have a different experience. Their houses are all built on stilts on the ocean near the coast.

This family we stayed with was one of the better ones with aircon for the whole house and nicer toilets. We heard of bad experience from another friend who went there reccently so we were lucky that we didnt have that kind of experience. Form of entertainment were mahjong, cards, karaoke, fishing, visit to kelong, fireworks and other things that you can do by the waterside.

Our day was spent singing songs and playing mahjong in the afternoon. During the night, we played fireworks and water bombs. Our host bbqed our dinner for us. We had alot of food ( stingray, satay, otak, sotong, prawns…) and quite a no. of thumbs up for their BBQ chicken wings.

Overall, it was a different experience and I had fun during the stay. Time to plan the next trip…

080809 Marina Barrage Pinic

Today I went Marina Barrage for a pinic with Dear and friends. Dear made sandwiches and potato salad while her friends brought biscuit, melted cheese and drinks. We sat on the grass patch in between the walkway and ate. Can you guess wat we were using as mat for our seats? Lol. One of Dear’s friend is a nurse and she got a few packs of those diapers like sheet that they use to lay on patients’ bed for us to use as mats. We were having fun when water sprinkles appeared out of nowhere and sprayed water. We were lucky to get away dry but our stuff was wet as we could not get everything away in time. It was funny listening to the different groups of girls screaming as they got wet from the water. Quite a bimbotic scene! We saw quite a few people trying to get their kite in the air but they could not do it at all. So we decided to go kite-flying next wk.

Movie review: Hangover

Just came back from the movie ‘Hangover’ with Dear and frens and writing down my thoughts. This was the first time Dear was laughing all the way throughout the movie. It was a lame show but the jokes make u laugh all the way. This show is about four guys on a road trip to Las Vegas for a Bach night for one of the guy. They got pissed drunk and could not remember a single thing they did the night before and even lost the groom. The remaining three guys spent the day retracing their steps the night before to find the groom. In between, things happened and u can really laugh ur hearts out at the jokes or lame acts carried by the actors. Nice show to watch if you wanna relax and laugh.

Prawning, prawning and more prawning…

My Angel used to loathe prawning cos it boring. Now she finds it so fun doing nothing and just prawning. So we go around new places for prawning and we went to Chua Chu Kang Fishfarm for prawning yesterday. The price was $15 for 1hr and $30 for 3hrs. They have this event on certain days where when u catch a prawn with coloured tag, u get free 1hr or cash prize.

I was very tired but my Angel was so excited about prawning so we got 1hr. The prawns there were not as big as Bishan prawning place and not as much. We managed to catch about 3 while Bubu got 2. Lol 5 small prawns for $30 and we released them back into the pond. Haha.

And tonight we are going to Kranji to check out a new place where they also have the cash prize event. Hope we can win back the rod $$ and maybe more. Lol. Depends on my Angel’s luck tonight. Jia you hor, Dear.

Fire Drill/Escape talk or BS??

Today our dept had a fire drill/escape talk by our colleague, J, the fire coordinator. The talk was so ‘interesting’ that i could sleep and J did not even prepare beforehand and getting his facts right. People had to keep correcting him on things.

Example 1: Most fire exits in our dept are control by the fire alrams and opens automatically when the fire alarms goes off. However, there are a few that are manually locked due to the system being spolit at those doors. He didnt even find out about it and told us that we can exit from those doors when we needed keys for those doors.

Example 2: He didnt know how to use the fire hose and tried to smoke through. People asked him about how to turn on the hose, how long can the hose extend to, etc. He couldnt answer and the director even asked him ‘Why didnt you prepare or know beforehand? You are supposed to know all this before talking to us.” I had to teach him how to use the fire hose. People had to asked him to try the firehose so that he knows how to use it.

Example 3: One of my colleague asked a question ‘What if we have problem walking when we injured or like the cleaner who has a walking problem?’ His reply was ‘Then you should be at home. If you are at work then u stay behind and wait for rescue. Same for the cleaner. I’m supposed to be the 1st to leave the office so that I can be at the evacuation point to do the headcount. I can’t stay and help. I’m only a coordinator’ What a nice answer. I really love this. So we are supposed to burn to death while waiting for rescue.

I don’t know what goes through his mind other than eating and thinking of himself.

My colleagues commented immediately after the talk. The exact words were ‘Waste of time!’ Right on. Wasted my time and made me leave my Ney alone for so long.

310509 Arrival of Baby Alicia

310509 was the birth date of baby Alicia, Jason and Anne’s daughter. What a surprise as she arrived earlier than expected. All of us were informed that Anne will be giving birth on the 2nd of June. So you could imagine the surprise we had when we were told about it. Alicia is one cute baby – maybe because she knows her dad is a photography freak so needs to be cute to catch her dad’s attention. Ok less talking more showing. More photos in our Smugmugs
